PG&E Pays Over $339 Million in Property Taxes to 50 California Counties

During the second half of 2022, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) paid property taxes of over $339 million to the 50 counties where it owns properties that support gas and electric service to 16 million Californians.

Attorneys ask court to find SWEPT unconstitutional, but questions arise

This week, attorneys for the plaintiffs in the school funding litigation before the Rockingham County Superior Court will ask Justice David Ruoff to find the statewide education property tax (SWEPT) unconstitutional, a ruling that would rescind the tax as of the 2024 tax year.

Lottery Property Tax Credit Shrinks for 2023

The State Department of Revenue says this year's property tax credit from the state lottery is slightly under last year, but still above 2019 and '20 levels. Eligible taxpayers got an average credit of $213 this year, down from $230 in 2021. The number is still higher than the previous two years which were both under $190.
