The new map released by the nonprofit Tax Foundation ranks states on the property tax, which is one component of the group's 2022 State Business Tax Climate Index. The property tax component evaluates state and local taxes on real and personal property, net worth and asset transfers.

Cleveland mayor seeks to change city's tax abatement policies

During City Council's regularly scheduled meeting, the mayor pitched his plan he says will be "focused on growth and equity instead of the 'one-size-fits-all' plan currently in place." Cleveland's current tax abatement system, which made its debut in 2017, is set to expire on June 4.
