Judge rejects county assessor Mike Clark's appeal of TPO

A judge ruled against Washoe County Assessor Mike Clark's appeal to end a temporary protection order against him by a fellow county official. The TPO will stay in place. Clark had claimed his due process rights were violated by a previous court decision that extended the TPO against him because he hadn't been able to present his side of the story.


PENNSYLVANIA

City of Philadelphia's 2018 Real Estate Tax Assessments are Unconstitutional

In that case, the Commonwealth Court had affirmed the trial court's order, striking of the property owners' tax year 2018 real estate tax assessments as unconstitutional and ordering a refund of any tax increase over the prior year assessments.


UTAH

Property valuations show 35% increase in Utah County, 29% in Salt Lake County

Assessors across Utah are finishing up home valuations for upcoming property tax notices, and two counties are already reporting big increases in values. The Utah County Assessor's office told KSL TV that the average value of single-family residential properties jumped 35% over last year.

West Virginia Lawmakers Hear From Counties About Property Tax Amendment

A lobbyist group representing county elected officials told lawmakers Monday that they have taken no official stance on a constitutional amendment on the November ballot that would give lawmakers the authority to lower or eliminate property taxes. Yet they said a full elimination could mean substantial losses to county budgets.
