Latest assessed property values top $1 billion for county

Colorado statute requires that county assessors list, classify and revalue all real estate property and personal property (defined as property that produces income) every two years. Gunnison County began the most recent process in 2022, as real estate markets were at a record high and the resulting notice of valuations based on an appraisal date of June 30, 2022 reflected the market height.

Kansas lawmakers may weigh new limits on property tax increases

Despite record-breaking temperatures, an overflow crowd of frustrated taxpayers crammed into the Shawnee County Commission chambers recently to voice concerns about rising property taxes driven largely by growing home values. The majority of people spoke against the county's $140.7 million budget, a 10.4% increase over the 2023 budget.

George H. Moff, 88, passed away peacefully in his home in Leander, Texas on Monday, September 4, 2023. George was born February 23, 1935, in Kingsville, Texas to Clarence and Edith (Wilson) Moff. He earned a Master of Education degree from the University of Corpus Christi and pursued his passion of teaching and coaching in the Pawnee, Alice and Los Fresnos Independent School Districts. 


Jeff Law hired as Chief Appraiser for Hood County CAD

The Board of Directors met in a special meeting to discuss applicants for the chief appraiser's position, vacant since the resignation of Eddie Roe in May. The Board unanimously approved the hiring of Jeff Law, former chief appraiser for Hood CAD from 1998 to 2008. He served as chief appraiser in Tarrant County from 2008 to 2023.
