Mitchell Barry focuses his practice on property valuation disputes, including complex commercial real estate and energy assets. His interest in valuation isn't just professional—it's something he's been trying to understand most of his life.
Born in Houston, Mitchell spent part of his childhood in the United Arab Emirates, where his father worked in the oil and gas industry. Growing up in Dubai during a period of rapid expansion, he saw firsthand how quickly land can change—and how investment and development can transform not only the landscape, but the way people think about value.
Back in Texas, a different influence took hold. Time spent with his grandfather introduced him to geology, fossils, and the deeper story of the land itself. What started as collecting rock samples turned into a lasting interest in what lies beneath the surface—and how those underlying realities ultimately drive value.
That contrast stayed with him: on one side, the visible forces of growth and development; on the other, the subsurface characteristics that make that growth possible. Today, his practice sits squarely at that intersection.
Mitchell earned dual undergraduate degrees from St. Edward's University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, where he studied Global Studies, Asian Studies, Peace Studies, and Japanese. He reads and writes Japanese, is proficient in Spanish, and has working familiarity with Arabic.
He received his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law, where he worked in the Criminal Defense Clinic representing underserved clients. That experience grounded his legal training in real-world advocacy and reinforced the importance of clear, practical solutions.
Mitchell began his legal career in civil litigation at a mid-sized firm in Fort Worth before joining Brusniak Texas Property Tax Attorneys. He now represents property owners in navigating complex valuation disputes, bringing both technical understanding and a practical approach to resolving them.
Outside the office, Mitchell remains deeply interested in international markets, travel, and languages. Across everything he does, there is a consistent thread: a drive to understand how value is actually created—and to use that understanding to his clients' advantage.
