Deaf Smith County commissioners approve $500 million tax abatement for solar farms

Solar energy is coming to Deaf Smith County. County commissioners approved $500 million in tax abatements Tuesday for Chermac Energy to build two solar farms near County Road BB. The projects are called Mule Deer Solar and Tiera Blanco Solar. “We've seen a lot big things that want to come in to the county but this is a good one,” said Chris Matthews, County Commissioner Precinct 1. “We like to see big projects like this.”
