UCAD directors give Valdez 10 more months as chief appraiser

After a split vote in October, the county appraisal district directors on Nov. 14 unanimously approved an abbreviated 10-month contract extension for chief appraiser Roberto Valdez. They also decided not to raise the staff's cost-of-living adjustment from 4 to 6 percent, despite a projected approximate $157,000 budget surplus. Valdez's contract, which would have expired in September of 2024, is now good through July 31, 2025.
